Lindsay Clancy jury set to deliberate for another day

Jurors in Lindsay Clancy's murder trial are set to continue deliberations for a fourth day, attempting to determine if the former labor and delivery nurse should be held criminally responsible for killing her three young children in 2023. Clancy, 36, is accused of strangling the infants but claims her actions were a result of postpartum psychosis.

Prosecutors argue she knowingly committed the murders. Clancy, who pleaded not guilty by reason of lack of criminal responsibility, could face a life prison sentence if convicted of murder or manslaughter. If acquitted, a judge could still order her confinement to a mental health facility if deemed a danger to the public. Her lawyer argued that she loved her children but killed them due to the mental illness, which affected her and her sanity.

Clancy had sought treatment for her deteriorating mental health in the months leading up to the crimes, including a stay in a psychiatric hospital. Prosecutors stated that Clancy killed the children out of depression and a desire to end her life, making a conscious decision to kill them before attempting suicide.
