Google TV Streamer gets a $50 price hike after Apple and Amazon raise their streaming device prices

Google's new Google TV Streamer has seen a price hike from $99 to $149, marking a significant 50% increase. This price surge follows a trend of similar hikes among competitors, including Amazon's Fire TV Stick 4K Max, which increased from $59.99 to $84.99, and Apple's Apple TV 4K, which jumped from $129 to $199 for the Wi-Fi model, and up to $249 for the Ethernet version.

Google cited rising component costs, similar to the reasons behind the Pixel 11 lineup's price increase, as the reason for this hike. Despite this, Google's device remains the cheaper option between the two, a factor that could sway many shoppers' decisions. However, Amazon is still listing the Google TV Streamer at its original $99 price, providing a brief window for budget-conscious buyers.
