Fubara pledges sustained partnership with Army to tackle economic sabotage

Governor Siminalayi Fubara of Rivers State has pledged a sustained partnership with the Nigerian Army to combat economic sabotage and safeguard critical national assets in the state. The commitment was made during a meeting with Major General Everest Okoro, the General Officer Commanding the 6th Division of the Nigerian Army, at the Government House in Port Harcourt.

The 6th Division oversees the governance of Rivers, Bayelsa, Delta, and Akwa Ibom states. Fubara emphasized that the partnership between the state government and the Nigerian Army has been in existence prior to his administration and has been crucial during challenging times. He assured the GOC that his administration would offer all necessary support to ensure his success.

Fubara stressed that in the current security climate, joint efforts and collaboration are essential to protect vital national assets, particularly oil and gas infrastructure, from vandals. He highlighted the importance of teamwork between the state government, the Nigerian Army, and other security agencies, including the Nigerian Air Force and Navy, to achieve their goals.

The GOC assured the governor that the 6th Division would continue its mission to protect lives, property, and critical infrastructure in Rivers State, maintaining professionalism in its operations. Both parties expressed their appreciation for the ongoing support and called for continued collaboration, particularly through enhanced information and intelligence sharing, community engagement, and other forms of support.
