Family of WA man missing in Nepal ‘hoping for a miracle’ as search for survivors continues

The family of a Perth man, Luke Costanzo, who is missing in Nepal, are desperately hoping for a miracle that he will be found alive and well. Costanzo, aged 30, was taking part in a pilgrimage trek to Mount Kailash with the non-profit, spiritual organization, Isha Foundation. Since the region was struck by a landslide and flash flooding, over 1,000 lives have been lost, and approximately 4,400 people are still unaccounted for.

Costanzo's family released a statement on Tuesday, confirming he is among the Australians who remain missing. In their heartfelt message, they expressed how deeply saddened they were, stating, "It is with heavy hearts that we share our dear son and brother, Luke Costanzo, is one of the Australians still unaccounted for in Nepal following the flooding disaster last week."

They described him as "an extremely strong, compassionate, disciplined and spiritual person." Costanzo was last heard from on the Gyirong port border crossing, as his group was returning to Kathmandu on the final day of their journey.

The family emphasized their need for privacy during this challenging time, asking the media to respect their wishes. They expressed gratitude for the love and support they have received from friends and family and requested that everyone keep Luke and the others who are still missing in their thoughts and prayers. The family's only hope is a miracle that will see Luke, and all those who remain unaccounted for, found alive and well.

They suggested that those who are able to help should consider donating to aid the dedicated individuals and organizations working tirelessly on the ground to carry out rescue efforts.
