Gold Coast filmmaker to face fresh fraud trial after jury dismissed

Customers of the defunct Gold Coast Fund Management Company are scheduled to meet in Accra today, Tuesday, September 1, 2026, to implore the government to speed up the disbursement of their frozen funds, according to a statement from the group's leaders. The assembly will take place at the Ebenezer Presbyterian Church forecourt in Osu, Ghana, from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. Following the meeting, attendees will be transported by buses to the Jubilee House, where they plan to deliver a petition to President John Dramani Mahama.

The organizers emphasize that participants will not walk from Osu to the seat of government, stating that buses have been organized for their direct transport. The leadership has called upon all affected customers to join the demonstration, emphasizing the importance of unity and peaceful methods in their ongoing pursuit of justice.

The group has opened its invitation to those impacted by the collapse of other financial institutions, arguing that the economic crisis has left countless families in a state of distress, and a united front could reinvigorate attention to the plight of victims whose funds remain unpaid. The organizers are also urging media organizations, journalists, civil society groups, religious bodies, traditional leaders, and the general public to back their demand for swift action to address the outstanding claims.

Charles Nyame, the convener of the aggrieved customers of Gold Coast Fund Management, has assured authorities that the event will be conducted peacefully and orderly. The group asserts that Tuesday's action is a means to heighten pressure on the government to resolve the issue after years of waiting.
