Dyson launches £420 toothbrush that films ‘live cleaning footage’ inside your mouth

Dyson, the renowned home appliance manufacturer, has unveiled a cutting-edge £420 toothbrush that goes beyond traditional oral hygiene tools. This advanced toothbrush, which took six years and the expertise of 661 engineers to develop, comes with a "100k pixel macro lens camera" and an "anti-gravity mouthwash tank."

The camera functions as a high-quality endoscope, allowing users to view "live cleaning footage" of their teeth via the MyDyson app. This feature helps users receive feedback on their brushing techniques. The toothbrush is part of a comprehensive £420 "complete dental system" that includes toothpaste and mouth rinse, each priced at £8.50.

Dyson emphasizes that this toothbrush is designed to clean "up to 72% more plaque than market-leading electric toothbrushes." It achieves this by releasing tiny jets of mouthwash to clean gaps between teeth while the brush head cleans along the gum line and removes surface stains. The toothbrush's advanced features, including a camera, machine learning, precision fluid dynamics, and connectivity, provide a unique approach to maintaining oral health.

While the market is already saturated with advanced toothbrushes, such as the Phillips Sonicare DiamondClean, which costs around £600, Dyson's product is positioned as a "complete dental system," promising a more thorough and efficient oral care routine. However, the British Dental Association (BDA) advises that such gadgets are not a substitute for a proper brushing routine and that following a dentist's advice is essential for good oral health.
