Barcelona sign Gabriel Jesus from Arsenal for reported £8.6m

Spanish football giants Barcelona have signed Arsenal striker Gabriel Jesus for a reported transfer fee of £8.6m (€10m), according to BBC Sport. The deal includes a contract duration of three years, with Jesus now committing until June 2029. The Brazilian forward had previously attracted interest from Napoli before he underwent a medical examination on Monday.

Jesus joined Arsenal from Manchester City in 2022, where he scored 32 goals and provided 22 assists in 123 appearances. In the 2024/25 season, Jesus suffered an anterior cruciate ligament injury during January, forcing him to miss several months of action before helping Arsenal clinch the Premier League title in May. Jesus is the third signing from a Premier League club this summer, following Karim Adeyemi and Jesse Bisiwu.

The other high-profile summer transfers for Barcelona include former Ballon d’Or winner Rodri and defender Anthony Gordon, who joined from Newcastle. Born in São Paulo, Brazil, on April 3, 1997, Jesus began his footballing career in his home country with Anhanguera. He later joined the youth system of Palmeiras in São Paulo, where he made his debut in March 2015 and claimed the league title that same year.

In 2016, Jesus joined Pep Guardiola's Manchester City, where he scored 95 goals and provided 45 assists in 236 appearances, winning four Premier League titles and multiple cups.
