Amotekun arrests two over attempted murder in Osun

The Osun Amotekun Corps has apprehended two men who allegedly carried out an attempted murder and violent attack on a woman working on her farm near the border of Osun and Oyo states. According to the corps, the incident took place on Friday, August 28, 2026, after residents and farmers alerted security forces to a distress call from the victim.

The suspects, Fatai Balogun, 55, and Rafiu Adesola Balogun, 52, were reportedly armed with a barrel gun and a cutlass during the attack. Upon receiving the distress call, the Iwo Command of the Osun Amotekun Corps swiftly responded to the scene, where they apprehended the suspects and recovered the weapons. The suspects have since been brought to the Osun Amotekun Corps headquarters in Osogbo for questioning, where they reportedly confessed to their roles in the attack.

Corps Commander Isaac Omoyele praised the quick action of the public and the corps' officers, stating that their timely intervention saved the woman from potential harm. The suspects were transferred to the Zone XI Police Command in Osogbo for further investigation and prosecution. The Osun Amotekun Corps urges residents to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities to security authorities.
