14 MoUs worth RM1.49bil inked on opening of Maha Trade Days 2026

Fourteen memorandums of understanding (MoUs) worth RM1.49 billion were inked at the opening of Maha Trade Days 2026, indicating strong investor confidence in Malaysia's agri-food sector. Agriculture and food security minister Mohamad Sabu highlighted that his ministry aimed for approximately RM8 billion in investment and trade commitments throughout the three-day event, which coincided with the Malaysia Agriculture, Horticulture and Agrotourism Exhibition (Maha) 2026.

The minister expressed satisfaction that investor confidence in the food industry had reached the RM1.49 billion target, and stressed the importance of global marketing for agro-food products, specifically citing coffee, cocoa, pineapple, and durian as products with global marketing potential. The MoUs signed covered strategic sub-sectors such as agricultural inputs, production and processing, livestock, halal food, pineapple, agricultural product development, and technology and capacity building.

Notable high-value collaborations included a RM1.03 billion pineapple processing plant in Tukau, Miri, and strategic partnerships in agricultural product production, distribution expansion, and the development of specialized fertilizers for pineapple crops. Maha Trade Days 2026 is anticipated to foster business connections, investment prospects, technology collaborations, and expanded market access, bolstering the competitiveness of the Malaysian agro-food industry and boosting the presence of local products in the global market.

The program attracted nearly 2,000 exhibitors with export-ready products and 40 international buyers, including wholesalers, distributors, and retailers from various international markets, resulting in around 1.5 million visitors and a direct sales value of nearly RM8.7 million as of the previous day.
