14 MoUs worth RM1.49bil inked on opening of Maha Trade Days 2026

Fourteen memorandums of understanding (MoUs) valued at RM1.49 billion were signed during the inauguration of Maha Trade Days 2026, signifying investors' faith in Malaysia's agri-food sector potential. Agriculture and food security minister Mohamad Sabu indicated his ministry aims for RM8 billion in investment and trade commitments over the three-day event, tied to the Malaysia Agriculture, Horticulture, and Agrotourism Exhibition (Maha) 2026.

The minister expressed satisfaction with investor confidence, which had reached RM1.49 billion of the RM8 billion goal. Sabu highlighted coffee, cocoa, pineapple, and durian products as viable candidates for global marketing. The MoUs encompassed strategic sub-sectors like agricultural inputs, production and processing, livestock, halal food products, pineapple, agricultural product development, and technology and capacity enhancement.

Notable collaborations included a RM1.03 billion pineapple processing plant in Tukau, Miri, and initiatives in agricultural product distribution, high-tech broiler farm capacity, and technology-enhanced pineapple cultivation. Maha Trade Days 2026 aims to foster business matches, investment prospects, technology alliances, and expanded market accessibility, bolstering Malaysia's agro-food industry competitiveness and global market penetration.

The event drew around 2,000 exhibitors showcasing export-ready products and 40 international buyers from wholesalers, distributors, and retailers across various international markets. Thus far, the program has attracted approximately 1.5 million visitors and generated direct sales worth nearly RM8.7 million as of the previous day.
