Vote now for the Wayne/Holmes County Athlete of the Week for August 24-29

The Wayne/Holmes County Athlete of the Week poll is now accepting votes for performances from August 24-29. The voting period runs from 4 a.m. on Monday, Aug. 31 to 5 p.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 2. Here are some standout performances from this past week:

Lea Ferrell of Chippewa girls soccer stood out in her team's 3-0 home victory over Norwayne. Playing primarily as a center back in what appeared to be a back three, Ferrell consistently thwarted any Norwayne attacks, both in the defensive third and as midfield support. Her positioning and defensive work were crucial to Chippewa's win.

For Tuslaw girls soccer, Harper Hamilton made a significant impact during the team's road win against PAC opponent Orrville. Active on the flanks, Hamilton contributed with both attacking plays and defensive efforts. She scored the second goal in the match for the Mustangs.

Wooster's golf team secured a strong second-round finish at the Ohio Cardinal Conference meet on Thursday. Team score was 375, with individual medallist Ava Scott shooting a 87. Scott's performance was pivotal to her team's success.

At Triway football, Austin Houser delivered a standout performance in the team's 38-13 road win against Norwayne. Houser carried the ball 17 times for 166 yards and scored two rushing touchdowns. Additionally, he contributed to the defense by intercepting a play in the first quarter.

Lastly, Loudonville football's Collin Caley was instrumental in his team's dominant 55-13 road win against New London. Caley amassed 140 rushing yards and scored two rushing touchdowns, playing a key role in Loudonville's impressive victory.
