Vote for Boys Athlete of the Week for Aug 23-28 presented by The Vance Law Firm

Week 1 of Alabama High School football in the Montgomery area showcased exceptional talent from athletes across the River Region. The Montgomery Advertiser is now presenting a poll for the Boys Athlete of the Week, sponsored by The Vance Law Firm. Voting will commence on Sunday, August 30, and conclude on Thursday, September 3, at noon. The final decision will be announced on Friday, September 4.

Nominees for the award are selected based on outstanding performances reported by high school coaches or statisticians. Coaches and team statisticians can submit nominations to sports@montgomeryadvertiser.com. Here are the nominees for the week of August 23-28:

1. Will McKay from Prattville: Will McKay set a record with 16 completions out of 20 attempts, recording 376 passing yards and four passing touchdowns, along with an interception. He also managed a rushing touchdown, leading his team to a 68-14 victory over Stanhope Elmore.

2. Brice Baker from Pike Road: Brice Baker contributed significantly to Pike Road's win over Hueytown with 64 receiving yards and a receiving touchdown.
