Trump posts AI video of Kharg Island being ‘blown to smithereens’

U.S. President Donald Trump posted a video on his social media platform, seemingly depicting explosions on Iran's Kharg Island following recent strikes. However, Iranian authorities have not confirmed that Kharg Island was the target of American military action. Kharg Island, located just 15 miles off Iran's coast, is vital to Iran's economy as it accounts for 90% of Tehran's oil exports.

The U.S. and Iran exchanged military actions on Sunday for the first time since late July, signaling Washington's attempt to pressure Iran into a deal through economic sanctions. A spokesperson for National Iranian Oil Company, Hamid Bovard, dismissed Trump's video claim as "laughable," stating that operations were ongoing as normal on Kharg Island.

The U.S. Central Command has not reported an attack on Kharg Island, but they did mention limited, precise strikes against Iranian minelaying capabilities in the Strait of Hormuz, targeting two launchers on Larak Island. Iran responded by attacking two Jordanian air bases with ballistic missiles, causing significant damage. Additionally, Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) reported that a tanker attempting to pass through the Strait of Hormuz was stopped after being struck by two naval mines.
