Three sisters die in Kano boat mishap

Three sisters from the same family perished when their boat overturned at Tiga Dam in Kano State. The victims were Murjanatu, Atikatu, and Bilkisu, who were commonly referred to as Amira. They hailed from Yalwan Rugu-Rugu village within Tudunwada Local Government Area. The unfortunate incident took place around 2pm on Saturday, as reported by Hajiya Sa'adatu Salisu Soja Maijama'a, the Chairman of Tudunwada Local Government Area and Chairman of the Kano State Local Government Chairmen’s Association.

In response to the tragedy, the local government chairman conveyed his deepest sympathies to the families of the deceased and the community at large, praying to Allah for forgiveness for the victims and strength for their families to cope with the loss. Hajiya Sa'adatu Salisu Soja Maijama'a reached out to the public via social media, revealing that the Kano State Fire Service had yet to receive formal notification of the incident.

The spokesperson for the fire service, Saminu Abdullahi, informed Daily Trust that the fire service only learned of the tragedy after it was announced by the local government chairman on social media. Abdullahi further stated that the fire service would issue an official statement and take appropriate action once they receive formal information regarding the incident.
