Temporary emergency room to operate out of Dauphin hospital

The province is set to reopen the emergency department at Dauphin Hospital on Labour Day, according to officials. The temporary emergency department will be housed on the main floor of the Dauphin Regional Health Centre, utilizing temporary power, water, and other infrastructure while ongoing restoration work is conducted in other areas.

This 24/7 facility will begin operations on September 7th, offering services round-the-clock. A mobile CT unit will be available shortly thereafter. Medical professionals, including physicians and nurses, have been actively involved in the planning process. Pre-opening orientations and walkthroughs are scheduled. Dialysis patients will continue receiving care in Brandon, Russell, Swan River, and Ashern, while chemotherapy services are provided in Brandon.

Labour and delivery services remain available in Neepawa and Brandon. Transportation support is provided for patients requiring travel for dialysis and chemotherapy. The Community Health Services building, which is attached to the Dauphin Regional Health Centre, will continue to offer outpatient community care, including IV therapy.

Walk-in diagnostic services will also be accessible at the health centre. Restoration efforts are ongoing across the hospital, with teams working to restore additional services such as surgery and endoscopy.
