Russian attack damages Varus supermarket chain warehouse in Kyiv region, no staff casualties

Kyiv, Ukraine (AP) — For the fifth consecutive day, Russian forces launched relentless assaults on Kyiv and surrounding regions, causing severe damage to warehouses which resulted in empty supermarket shelves, according to an Associated Press report. The attacks were intensified by jet-powered drones, causing widespread concern among Ukrainians.

Ukraine's President Volodymyr Zelenskyy confirmed that Russia's strategy is to wear down the nation and its people. The country has been struggling to counteract the fast-flying jet-propelled drones, with around 800 out of 1,500 drones fired by Russia being jet-powered, as per Zelenskyy's statement.

Major cities like Brovary and Boryspil in the Kyiv region reported four casualties after the aerial attacks, with combat aircraft attempting to neutralize the jet-powered drones. The Russian Defense Ministry also announced plans for large-scale strikes on Ukraine's energy infrastructure, including recent drone attacks on an energy facility in the northern Chernihiv region bordering Russia.

Despite these setbacks, Ukraine's officials assured the public that they would not face hunger. Serhii Beskrestnov, a Zelenskyy adviser, reassured the population that producers and retailers are reorganizing supply chains, and European countries are prepared to aid in case of any food shortages.
