Putrajaya’s free water taxis become crowd favourite, offering scenic shortcut to National Day venue

PUTRAJAYA, Aug 31 — The free water taxi service attracted visitors to the 2026 National Day celebration in Dataran Putrajaya, serving as a highlight for attendees from various backgrounds. The service, operating from 5 am until noon, allowed people to cross Putrajaya Lake while enjoying the scenic vistas of the Federal administrative centre.

Michelle Wong, a 31-year-old digital marketing professional, and her family joined the celebration after searching for public transport options online. "We took the water taxi, and it was our first time using this mode of transportation," she shared. Teacher Hajar Salih, a 27-year-old Gombak resident, also used the service for the second time.

"I appreciate its convenience as I arrived early at the Marina Jetty area and didn't have to wait long," she mentioned. The water taxi service operated on three routes - Route 1 from Terra 8 Jetty, Presint 8, to Monument Jetty, Presint 2; Route 2 between Putrajaya Lake Club Jetty and Monument Jetty, Presint 2; and Route 3 linking Putrajaya Marina Jetty, Presint 5, and Anjung Floria Jetty, Presint 4.

Safety measures were strictly enforced, requiring passengers to wear life jackets throughout the journey. The free shuttle bus services for the celebration included MS01 from Putrajaya Sentral Terminal to Jalan Tun Abdul Razak, Presint 2, running non-stop for 24 hours; and MS02 from PICC main lobby, Jalan P4X, Presint 4, every five minutes from 4 am to 2 pm today.
