Putrajaya’s free water taxis become crowd favourite, offering scenic shortcut to National Day venue

PUTRAJAYA, Aug 31 — The free water taxi service in Putrajaya emerged as a favorite among visitors at the 2026 National Day celebration, offering a scenic and convenient route to the parade venue. Operating from 5 am until noon, the service catered to a diverse crowd, drawing individuals from all walks of life. Visitors enjoyed the early morning scenery and the chance to explore Putrajaya from a unique perspective.

Michelle Wong, 31, was among those who took advantage of the service, describing it as her first experience with water taxis in Dataran Putrajaya. Teacher Hajar Salih, 27, echoed the sentiment, noting it as her second time using the service and finding it the most convenient option for her early arrival at the Marina Jetty area.

The water taxi service covered three routes, with three water taxis available on Routes 1 and 2, and three cruiser units on Route 3. Safety measures were strictly enforced, requiring all passengers to wear life jackets. In addition to the water taxi service, free shuttle bus services were also available, including Route MS01 and Route MS02, ensuring a comprehensive transportation solution for the National Day celebration.
