Police arrest six suspected notorious armed robbers in Kumasi

The Ashanti Regional Police Command has apprehended six individuals suspected to be part of an organized armed robbery syndicate in the Ashanti Region. The six were apprehended by the Regional Anti-Armed Robbery Unit in Kumasi, following intelligence-led operations. The suspects, identified by their aliases, are Philip Nyarko, alias "Kawawa," Hadi Samed, alias "Toronto," Issahaku Musah, alias "Isak," Suraj Mohammed, alias "Baba Nde" and "Trouble," Hadi Abdul Majeed, alias "Panie," and Foster Owusu Afriyie, alias "Joe Fraizer."

Regional Police Commander, DCOP Osei Akoto, announced during a press conference at the Ashanti Regional Police Headquarters that there are still five suspects at large. The operation also resulted in the seizure of six laptops, three tablets, several mobile phones, machetes, and knives. Some of the suspects had faced arrest on December 6, 2025, for conspiracy to commit crime, including robbery and attempted robbery, which they appeared before Asokwa Circuit Court 1. However, they were granted bail.

DCOP Osei Akoto revealed that the suspects were allegedly back into criminal activities following their release, and the police are pursuing all credible leads to apprehend the remaining suspects. The six apprehended individuals are currently in police custody, awaiting prosecution. The Ashanti Regional Police Command has assured the public of its commitment to intensify efforts against armed robbery and other violent crimes in the region.
