Muhyiddin sambut baik ikhtiar kerajaan ringan beban rakyat

Former Malaysian Prime Minister Muhyiddin Yassin expressed appreciation for the government's announcement of several measures aimed at alleviating the burden on the Malaysian people's living costs, supporting the business sector, and strengthening the delivery of public services. He highlighted the return of RON95 fuel subsidy eligibility from 200 liters to 300 liters per month and the increase in the exemption threshold for e-Invoicing to businesses generating sales up to RM3 million annually as steps that could benefit both the populace and the business community.

Muhyiddin emphasized that it is crucial for relevant ministries and government agencies to swiftly channel funds and ensure that assistance reaches deserving individuals and businesses. He expressed hope that the announced steps will be followed by more comprehensive measures to ease the cost of living, aid business, and stimulate economic growth under the 2027 Budget.

Muhyiddin added that further measures include an additional RM500 million for school operations, digitalization of healthcare services, and access to artificial intelligence training for youth, which could enhance the quality of public service delivery in education, healthcare, and digital economy sectors. He also mentioned a RM1 billion microcredit facility for small businesses and a RM200 million subsidy for small shopkeepers, hawkers, and home-based entrepreneurs to foster business, particularly for micro, small, and medium enterprises.

Muhyiddin further suggested that the government review the criteria for subsidies and rationalize them to directly address the financial burden on the populace at the moment. The previous day, Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim announced six immediate relief measures for the public, including fuel subsidies, school operations, AI, digital healthcare, e-Invoicing, and microfinance, stating these are steps to address public concerns, particularly related to living costs and daily life pressures.
