Microsoft Finally Fixes One of Windows 11’s Most Annoying Prompts

Microsoft has addressed one of Windows 11's most irritating prompts by introducing a permanent "Opt out of backup" option in a full-screen OneDrive reminder. The earlier version of the prompt only provided a "Remind in 3 days" option, which led to users seeing the same notification repeatedly if they did not wish to back up their files using OneDrive.

A recent sighting on a Windows 11 24H2 PC indicated that the new feature allows users to permanently dismiss the reminder after choosing to opt out. After selecting this option, users are presented with further choices such as "Skip for now" or "Backup now." Once dismissed, users should no longer receive the same backup prompt. While Windows 11 does not necessitate OneDrive for file storage, users can still save files locally or utilize other cloud services like Google Drive.

This update is part of Microsoft's ongoing efforts to improve Windows 11, including optimizations for devices with 8GB of RAM and additional features such as remote shutdown or restart capabilities for Phone Link users. For those who prefer not to have OneDrive backup, the permanent opt-out option appears to be a highly appreciated change.
