Sony Confirms 2 PlayStation State of Play Presentations for This Week

Sony has announced that there will be two PlayStation State of Play presentations airing later this week. The first presentation is scheduled to begin on Thursday, September 3, at 6am PT / 9am ET / 3:00pm CEST / 10:00pm JST. This showcase will feature updates and announcements from PlayStation Studios and third-party partners, and it will conclude with an extended look at the vast world of Square Enix's Final Fantasy 7 Revelation.

The show is set to be hosted by Yuki Kaji, a well-known voice actor who has returned for this presentation.

Immediately following the first show, a State of Play Japan broadcast will commence. This broadcast will offer deep dives into upcoming games from Japanese and Asian game studios, including new gameplay, announcements, and more. The length of each show is currently unknown, but fans are eagerly anticipating any potential announcements for highly anticipated titles such as Naughty Dog's sci-fi game, Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet, and Insomniac Games' Marvel's Wolverine, set to release on September 15 for the PS5.

Aside from the two main presentations, there is still uncertainty surrounding Sony's plans for the future of the PS5, particularly regarding the discontinuation of physical disc support, which is expected in January 2028. Fans have expressed their desire for Sony to maintain physical disc support, and it remains to be seen if this will be addressed during the upcoming State of Play showcases.
