Manhunt underway after woman killed, several injured at Swiss rave shooting

A massive police search is underway following a fatal shooting at a rave in northern Switzerland, which claimed the life of an Italian woman and injured several others on Sunday morning. Michael Leupold, the commander of the Aargau regional police, stated that they are currently engaged in a large-scale operation, with no clear end in sight until the perpetrators are identified and apprehended.

The 22-year-old Italian woman, who resided in Switzerland, was shot multiple times shortly after the event concluded in Aarau, located approximately 40 kilometers west of Zurich. Five other individuals who attended the rave sustained injuries, though none of their conditions were deemed life-threatening. Investigators are exploring three possible scenarios: the shooting could have been an act of terrorism, a spree killing, or a resolution of a criminal dispute.

Traces of two distinct types of weapons were discovered following the gunfire. The celebration, which spanned from Saturday afternoon until 2am on Sunday (GMT), had already concluded, with only about 100 people remaining at the venue. The police cordoned off the area extensively on Sunday, primarily for the purpose of preserving evidence rather than due to an imminent threat to the public.

Authorities have appealed for witnesses to provide video and photographic evidence. The organizers had anticipated around 3,500 attendees for the Aarauer Rave, a well-established event held on the grounds of the Aargau Racing Club.
