Kian Ming keluar DAP

Ong Kian Ming, a former Bangi MP, has announced his resignation from the Democratic Action Party (DAP) and has no intention of joining another political party or contesting in the 2016 General Election. In a statement to the DAP Secretary-General Loke Siew Fook, Ong expressed gratitude for being given the opportunity to contribute to the party and nation through various means since joining DAP in 2012.

He served as MP for Serdang from 2013 to 2018, and for Bangi from 2018 to 2022, in addition to being appointed as the Alternate Minister for International Trade and Industries (2018-2020), a member of the DAP Central Executive Committee (2019-2022), and a member of the DAP Selangor Committee (2018-2024).

Ong particularly thanked former Serdang MP Tony Pua for inviting him to join DAP and guiding him on the best ways to serve the party and nation over the past 14 years. He also thanked former DAP Secretary-General Lim Guan Eng for providing him the opportunity to contest for the Serdang and Bangi parliamentary seats, as well as being appointed as deputy minister.

Ong expressed deep gratitude for having worked alongside DAP members and leaders in Serdang and Bangi during his tenure as an MP from 2013 to 2022, serving the constituents and residents of those areas as their people's representative. He is now committed to continuing to serve the nation's interests through other means, including through his audio commentary, various advisory roles, and collaborations with individuals who share similar thoughts and interests.
