Ed Sheeran gives surprise performance of Pokémon anime theme and Celestial at World Championships

Ed Sheeran made an unexpected appearance at the Pokémon World Championships, kicking off the closing ceremony on Championship Sunday with two hits. The first was his 2022 single Celestial, originally featured at the credits of Pokémon Scarlet and Violet. Following this, he transitioned into an acoustic rendition of the iconic Pokémon anime theme song.

This isn't Sheeran's first collaboration with The Pokémon Company; the song's 2022 announcement coincided with a music video showing him interacting with Pokémon, including Pikachu. Over the weekend, The Pokémon Company International and Aardman unveiled the first teaser trailer for Pokémon Tales: The Misadventures of Sirfetch d & Pichu, a new stop-motion series set to debut on Disney+ next year.

The trailer promises viewers to join unlikely heroes, Sirfetch d and Pichu, in their quest to safeguard Pokémon across Galar, despite missions often going awry. Despite the setbacks, their camaraderie and bravery propel them forward into the unknown, promising peril, alliances, rivalries, extraordinary Pokémon, and endless laughter.
