Deputy AG rejects OSP claim of collaboration snub, says allegation is false

Deputy Attorney-General Justice Srem-Sai has dismissed claims by the Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP) that the Attorney-General's Office has repeatedly refused collaboration requests on corruption cases. He labeled the allegation as false and emphasized that the Attorney-General's Office remains committed to working with all state institutions tasked with investigating and prosecuting crime.

The Deputy Attorney-General responded to comments from OSP Director of Strategy, Research and Communications, Sammy Darko, who had alleged that the OSP was turned down for collaboration on several occasions. Darko claimed that the OSP had intentionally refrained from discussing these instances, but Justice Srem-Sai denied such tension between the two offices.

The Deputy Attorney-General stated that Attorney-General Dr Dominic Ayine's priority is to ensure proper investigation and prosecution of criminal offenses while respecting the rights of accused persons. He also affirmed that the Attorney-General's Office would work with the OSP like any other agency, as the OSP is one of several institutions involved in Ghana's fight against crime and corruption.
