Deaf teenager reportedly killed in Ukrainian missile strike on Ozon warehouse in Russia’s Belgorod

On August 30, a 16-year-old deaf teenager named David Z. was killed in a Ukrainian missile strike on an Ozon warehouse in Belgorod, Russia, according to his relatives. David had taken the job at the Belgorod Ozon warehouse for extra money during his summer break and was a student at a special school for the deaf, as his father is deaf and his mother is hard of hearing.

The family, which consists of nine children with David being the oldest, was shocked by the tragedy. They were denied access to see David's body at the morgue and had to contact a funeral home themselves. David's parents have already spent 90,000 rubles on funeral arrangements, and relatives have launched a fundraiser to help with the costs.

Two of David's classmates who were also working at the warehouse that day were hospitalized. Ukraine's military conducted the missile strike in Belgorod on the afternoon of August 30, causing fires at a power plant and warehouses leased by Ozon. The company's press service confirmed that a sorting center and delivery hub were hit in the attack, resulting in three deaths and 16 injuries in the city.
