Wamuchomba: I went to Murkomen’s office but he refused to see me

Githunguri Member of Parliament Gathoni Wamuchomba remarked on Monday that Interior Cabinet Secretary Kipchumba Murkomen declined her request for a meeting at his office. Addressing a press conference, Wamuchomba criticized Murkomen's handling of the interior portfolio, asserting that a leader should differentiate political interests from national security concerns.

She recounted a prior parliamentary exchange where she questioned Murkomen regarding the alleged disposal of bodies at a dam in Kwale, alleging that his response to her inquiry was insufficient. Wamuchomba alleged that Murkomen dismissed her concerns, stating she was unworthy of such inquiries. The MP further questioned Murkomen's suitability for the Interior Ministry, alleging he treats the sensitive security portfolio as a mere political position.

She accused Murkomen of hindering investigations into the deaths of women whose bodies were reportedly dumped at the Kware dam, and claimed his interference with the arrest of Health Cabinet Secretary Aden Duale following his recent remarks, which led to his summons by the National Anti-Corruption Commission (NCIC). Wamuchomba warned that the nation might face heightened political and security tensions prior to the upcoming general election if Murkomen continues to lead the Interior Ministry.

She remarked, "If you are going to go into an election with Murkomen as the minister, trust me, this country is going to be in total chaos." This statement comes amidst increasing political tensions and concerns over security in the country, with calls growing for Interior Cabinet Secretary Murkomen to demonstrate his capability in managing the crucial portfolio.

Former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua and Funyula Member of Parliament Wilberforce Oundo have also expressed reservations about Murkomen's capability to effectively lead the Interior Ministry.
