Budi Madani: Restored RON95 quota, higher diesel allocation bring relief to motorists, traders

The Malaysian government's decision to restore assistance quotas under the Budi Madani programme for RON95 petrol and increase the diesel quota has been met with relief from various sectors of society and traders. Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim announced the changes during the 2026 National Day "Amanat Perdana" address at the Putrajaya International Convention Centre.

The basic eligibility quota for RON95 petrol subsidies will increase from 200 litres to 300 litres, while the Budi Diesel quota will rise from 300 litres to 400 litres, starting today.

The increase in fuel assistance has been welcomed by beneficiaries, who stated that it has provided relief in terms of monthly finances and allowed them to allocate funds to other essential needs. Private sector worker Furzani Ahmad shared that the return of the Budi 95 quota helped him save on monthly expenses, as he travels approximately 30 kilometres daily.

Similarly, Darwisy Khairudin expressed satisfaction with the government's decision, as the fuel quota aids her in calculating transportation expenses when working outside her usual route.

Fruit stall operator Abdul Manan highlighted that the increase in the diesel quota is beneficial for his business, as it stabilises daily operating costs and prevents an increase in selling prices for his customers. The Budi Madani programme is a targeted initiative by the government to ensure fuel subsidies are distributed efficiently.
