Boy’s foot run over by tow vehicle during Merdeka parade

A three-year-old Malaysian boy suffered an injury to his left foot when the vehicle he was walking behind accidentally ran over it during the 2026 National Day parade in Kuala Terengganu on Monday. The incident transpired at around 9:45 am in front of the Wisma Persekutuan, according to Puteri Anis Athirah Wan Rosli, the boy's mother.

Puteri Anis, 36, recounted the events to reporters at the Sultanah Nur Zahirah Hospital's emergency department. Her son, Che Ku Khairul Amir Che Ku Khairul Azlan, was followed by his seven-year-old sister as she took photographs. When firefighters attempted to gently move the child to ensure his safety, he fell forward, resulting in his foot being struck by a tow vehicle carrying a fire and rescue department boat.

Fortunately, the X-ray examination revealed no broken bones, but the boy was kept under observation at the hospital. His mother expressed gratitude for the swift response of the police and the ambulance service, emphasizing that the accident was an unfortunate mishap caused by her son's excitement. She did not hold any animosity towards the firefighters, who were managing the safety and movement of the parade assets.
