Gauteng DA calls on Lesufi to blacklist officials probed for graft

The Democratic Alliance (DA) has urged Gauteng Premier Panyaza Lesufi to blacklist government officials currently under investigation for corruption. These individuals should be listed on the National Central Register for Verification of Dismissals and Resignations, pending their disciplinary proceedings. According to the DA, Lesufi's lack of action has allowed some of these officials to be reassigned or appointed to other positions within the government.

The party made this statement following the appointment of former Health Department Head Arnold Lesiba Malotana as HOD for Public Safety in Johannesburg. Malotana was suspended by Lesufi in October last year after a Special Investigating Unit (SIU) investigation tied him to a R2 billion corruption scandal at Tembisa Hospital. DA Member of Provincial Parliament (MPL) Solly Msimanga has called on Lesufi to explain the disciplinary action taken against Malotana and other implicated officials, as well as the public release of their lifestyle audits.

Msimanga stated that Malotana is currently ineligible for any government position due to the pending corruption allegations, and it is crucial that Premier Lesufi makes the reports public and ensures those implicated in wrongdoing are held accountable for their actions.
