3-year-old injured after leg run over by fire dept vehicle during Merdeka parade

A three-year-old boy sustained injuries when his left leg was run over by a vehicle towing a fireboat during the state-level National Day celebrations in Terengganu. The incident occurred around 9.45am in front of Wisma Persekutuan, as the boy attempted to get a closer look at the security forces' assets. His mother, Puteri Anis Athirah Wan Rosli, brought her three children to the festivities, excited to see the Fire and Rescue Department's assets.

As the vehicle stopped several times in front of Wisma Persekutuan, her seven-year-old daughter ventured ahead to take photographs. Upon realizing the danger, firefighters tried to escort the boy to the roadside, but he fell face-first, causing his left leg to get trapped under the vehicle's tyre. Despite the quick incident, the boy did not experience internal injuries, vomiting, or bone fractures.

Police officers managed the situation and transported him to Sultanah Nur Zahirah Hospital around 10.15am, where a paediatric specialist monitored his condition. The mother expressed gratitude to the firefighters and security forces for their efforts to ensure safety, but emphasized that the accident was accidental due to her son's enthusiasm in observing the assets up close.
