Alleged drug trafficking: Why US hasn’t arrested Tinubu — President’s lawyer

President Bola Tinubu's legal team in the United States, led by Wole Afolabi, has provided insight into why the President has not been arrested despite allegations of drug trafficking. During an interview on Channels Television, Afolabi explained that Tinubu would have faced indictment, arrest, and prosecution if there was concrete evidence linking him to such activities in the United States.

The discussion arose from a Freedom of Information Act lawsuit filed by Aaron Greenspan, who is requesting access to certain documents held by the DOJ, FBI, and DEA. These records are part of an ongoing legal dispute. Afolabi emphasized that the US government had already released a significant number of documents but sought to keep some portions confidential, citing concerns over law enforcement methods, sources, and personnel.

He clarified that his client's decision to challenge the release of these redacted portions was grounded in US law and not an attempt to hide incriminating information. Afolabi stated that the matter has been ongoing and that the DEA and other agencies have already provided documents to Greenspan. He reiterated that the process involves adhering to the law, which dictates the extent of disclosure.
