Should move from endless war to end of war, PM Modi tells Russian Prez Putin

Prime Minister Narendra Modi urged Russian President Vladimir Putin to end the ongoing conflict in Ukraine, stating that each day of war harms humanity's progress. The two leaders met on the sidelines of the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) Summit in Bishkek, marking their first in-person discussion since last year's India-Russia Summit in New Delhi.

India has not publicly condemned Russia's invasion of Ukraine but supports dialogue and diplomacy for a resolution. After the meeting, Modi and Putin traveled together to the inaugural ceremony of the World Nomad Games, where they entered the venue jointly, as previously observed. The talks addressed the recent Black Sea attacks that killed at least five Indian seafarers, which were a key point of discussion.

Both leaders emphasized the importance of a peaceful resolution and India's commitment to supporting such efforts. According to the external affairs ministry, the meeting also covered various aspects of bilateral relations, including economic cooperation, trade, and regional and global issues.
