Registration problems cost Inter Lagos 3SC match – Coach

Inter Lagos' coach Shakiru Giwa has attributed his team's 2-1 loss to Shooting Stars in their inaugural Nigeria Premier Football League match to registration issues, while expressing optimism about future performances, according to PUNCH Sports Extra. Giwa, who took charge of Inter Lagos last year, led the club from the lower-tier Nigeria National League to its debut in the NPFL.

Despite showing glimpses of quality during the historic match at the Lekan Salami Stadium in Ibadan on Friday, Inter Lagos fell short and conceded to Shooting Stars. The Nigerian side took the lead in the 11th minute through Lucky Emmanuel before Uchenna Njoku equalized with Inter Lagos' maiden NPFL goal. However, they succumbed to a penalty from Sodiq Ibrahim late in the first half.

Giwa acknowledged the challenges faced due to last-minute registration problems, which forced him to reshuffle his squad just two hours prior to the kickoff. The coach emphasized that the team learned valuable lessons and will work on rectifying certain aspects for better outcomes in upcoming matches. Inter Lagos CEO Lanre Vigo commended the players' first-ever NPFL performance, particularly their strong showing in the first half, and expressed confidence in the team's potential to improve in subsequent games. Inter Lagos will now shift focus to their home fixture against Doma United in the coming weekend.
