Atule sets 20-goal target

Barau FC's forward, Joseph Atule, has set a goal-scoring target of 20 goals for the upcoming 2026/27 Nigeria Premier Football League season, according to PUNCH Sports Extra. Atule, who is set to make his debut against Nasarawa United in the club's opening fixture at the Sani Abacha Stadium in Kano, revealed that he was inspired to set this challenge after contributing to 13 of Barau FC's goals during the previous campaign.

The former Enyimba player emphasized that he remains open to scoring "a lot of goals" if he falls short of his target, stating that he is not fixated on a particular number. His goal tally for the new season is expected to range between 19 and 20.

Atule expressed his satisfaction with his current circumstances, citing the support and enthusiasm of both fans and the Barau FC community in Kano. He also highlighted his memorable goal against El-Kanemi Warriors in the previous season as a highlight of his time with the team.

Last season, Atule played a pivotal role in Barau FC's eighth-place finish in the NPFL, scoring eight goals and providing five assists throughout the campaign.
