Proteas spearhead Kagiso Rabada ruled of Australia ODIs, but still hopeful for Test series

South Africa's fast-bowling spearhead, Kagiso Rabada, has been ruled out of the upcoming ODI series against Australia due to a hamstring strain. Cricket South Africa confirmed the news, stating that Rabada is under medical supervision for his rehabilitation process. It is uncertain whether he will be available for the highly anticipated Test series against Australia, which is scheduled to begin in Durban on October 9 and continue in Gqeberha and Cape Town from October 18 and 27, respectively.

Despite Rabada's absence, the Proteas managed to beat India 2-0 in their last Test series last November, with the 31-year-old playing a crucial role in their victory. Rabada's absence will be felt as he has been a vital part of the Proteas' attack, particularly in the World Test Championship final where he claimed nine wickets. He also had a significant impact during the "Sandpapergate" tour to South Africa in 2018.

Rabada boasts an impressive record against Australia, claiming 58 wickets in 11 matches at an average of 21.39. Currently, South Africa faces another setback with the loss of fast bowler Lutho Sipamla, who has also suffered a hamstring strain and will miss the entire series. He will be replaced by Dolphins all-rounder Andile Simelane.

Additionally, Lions seamer Codi Yusuf has withdrawn from the South Africa 'A' team for the series against Bangladesh due to personal reasons, while Titans all-rounder Dayyan Galiem and Western Province seamer Tshepo Moreki have been added to the squad.
