Police kill two kidnappers, rescue truck driver in Ogun

Operatives of the Ogun State Police Command's Anti-Kidnapping Unit have rescued a truck driver from abduction and killed two suspected abductors. During this intelligence-driven operation, they also seized two AK-47 rifles, ammunition, and other evidence. The incident occurred along Papalanto–Ilaro road, following a report of a kidnapping on August 25, 2026, in the Ajibawo area of Ibese.

The police quickly responded, locating the suspects' hideout and engaging them in a shootout. Two of the kidnappers were neutralized, while others fled with gunshot wounds. The hideout yielded two AK-47 rifles, 25 rounds of ammunition, two mobile phones, and N2 million believed to be proceeds of crime. The bodies of the neutralized suspects were sent for autopsy, and efforts remain to apprehend the escaping suspects.

Commissioner Bode Ojajuni emphasized the command's dedication to intelligence-led policing, tactical operations, and community partnerships to safeguard lives and property. He urged residents to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities, particularly those seeking treatment for gunshot injuries or with suspicious injuries.
