Nepal flood death toll rises to 781 as search continues

Nepalese authorities report that the death toll from recent floods has increased to 781, with over 3,000 people still unaccounted for. Rescue and search operations are in their fourth day of ongoing efforts to locate the missing and provide aid to survivors. Helicopter rescue operations have resumed in Nuwakot, one of the worst-affected regions, following a brief suspension due to unfavorable weather conditions.

Rescue teams face challenging terrain and weather as they search for the missing and deliver essential supplies. Concerns persist that the death toll could rise further as more bodies are recovered and remote areas are reached. Approximately 100 rescue workers, police officers, and officials are aiding in the identification process, documenting the deceased, and assisting relatives in the proper preparation of bodies for burial.

Authorities have meticulously recorded every burial site, placing identification markers above and below ground and logging precise location details. DNA samples have been collected from unidentified remains, enabling future identification through family contact, official records, or genetic testing if necessary.
