Linda Mwananchi leaders back ex-Meru Governor Kawira Mwangaza’s political bid

Several Linda Mwananchi leaders publicly endorsed former Meru Governor Kawira Mwangaza on Sunday, August 30, 2026, signaling their support for her potential return to politics in the 2027 general election. During a Linda Mwananchi political tour in Meru, the leaders lauded Mwangaza and criticized the circumstances that led to her removal from office. However, Mwangaza has not yet declared publicly whether she intends to contest an elective position in 2027.

Jack Wamboka, an MP from Bumula, stated that Linda Mwananchi would provide legal backing to Mwangaza and assist her in any way possible. His comments suggested that the movement anticipates Mwangaza's return to the ballot in the upcoming General Election. Mwangaza praised the leaders' support, stating that they stood with the Constitution during her impeachment process. She also expressed a desire for political change in Meru, seemingly endorsing Sifuna for the presidency.

Wamboka described Mwangaza as a strong leader who maintained her popularity among Meru residents despite her removal. He emphasized that Mwangaza represents the people of Kenya. Godfrey Osotsi, another supporter, predicted Mwangaza's return as Meru Governor. Faith Odhiambo, a former Law Society of Kenya President, questioned the circumstances of Mwangaza's impeachment, arguing that the Constitution should have been prioritized. Despite these remarks, Mwangaza has not announced her political plans.
