Iran’s supreme leader calls for unity among Muslim countries

In a written statement issued six months after the Middle East war began, Iran's supreme leader, Mojtaba Khamenei, has called for unity among Muslim countries to combat the US and Israel. Khamenei, who has led Iran since shortly after his father's death at the start of the war on February 28, has not appeared in public since his appointment.

According to his official website, Khamenei urged rulers of regional countries to recognize their true enemy, understand its plan, and confront it, specifically referring to the US and Israel. He emphasized the importance of unity among Muslim nations for the sake of goodness and cooperation.

Khamenei's message came as Shia Muslims celebrated the birthday of the Prophet Mohammed. He warned that anyone in a position of power who contributes to division within the Muslim community, whether intentionally or unintentionally, is aiding the enemies of Islam.

During the ongoing war, Iran has targeted US military bases in several Middle Eastern countries, including Saudi Arabia, the UAE, Jordan, Kuwait, Qatar, and Bahrain. Tensions between Iran and these nations have escalated since the conflict began.

In addition to his call for unity, Khamenei instructed Iranian officials and citizens to put aside differences and work together against Israel and the United States. He urged the gradual de-dollarisation of the Iranian economy and stressed the need to boost economic production to support growth following years of sanctions and a US naval blockade.
