Iran halts passage of 30 ships through Strait of Hormuz since August 22

Since August 22, Iran has halted 30 ships from passing through the Strait of Hormuz, drastically cutting maritime traffic in the region, according to Mehr News Agency. Iranian authorities have imposed strict restrictions, preventing vessels from navigating the vital waterway. The agency cited an informed source noting that vessel movement in the strait has been significantly impeded due to Iran's ongoing blockades.

Deputy Foreign Minister Kazem Gharibabadi further explained that the recent agreement between Iran and Oman on transit arrangements through the Strait of Hormuz will remain unimplemented unless the United States adheres to its obligations. He emphasized that the Strait of Hormuz remains effectively closed, stressing that any ship seeking passage must first obtain permission from Iranian authorities through prior coordination.
