Fatimah orders agencies to ensure welfare support for family in Sibu child death

Sibu's Women, Children and Community Wellbeing Minister, Datuk Seri Fatimah Abdullah, has directed the Social Welfare Department and Early Childhood Development Division to monitor the case of a young boy who was allegedly murdered in Sibu last Friday. The tragic incident has deeply saddened the minister, who offered her condolences to the victim's family.

She emphasized that no child should ever become a victim of violence, and urged all parties to allow the police to conduct an impartial and transparent investigation, without any interference. The authorities have stated that a suspect in his late 40s has been remanded for six days, and the case is being examined under Section 302 of the Penal Code.

The minister also cautioned the public against disseminating unverified information, photos or conjecture, as it could exacerbate the family's grief and potentially disrupt the ongoing investigation. At present, it is hoped that the grieving family and others impacted by this devastating tragedy will find the strength and resilience to cope with their loss.
