Families of three missing Malaysians in Nepal hope for good news on their safety

KUALA LUMPUR, August 30 — The families and friends of three Malaysian climbers remain hopeful for positive news concerning their safety after a flash flood and landslide hit the Nepal-Tibet border region last Wednesday. The victims, identified as Muhammad Muhaimin Azhad Noor Hadi, Muhammad Adib Haikal Awang Mansor, and Muhammad Zaki Othman, were uncontactable during a climbing expedition in the Langtang Valley.

A friend of the trio shared their plight on the Threads app, appealing for continued prayers for their wellbeing. The last contact from the group was received at 10:42 am Malaysia time on August 26, with their final location pinpointed in the Bhote Koshi area. Authorities have officially reported the climbers' disappearance to both the Malaysian Embassy in Nepal and Wisma Putra to facilitate ongoing rescue efforts.

Muhaimin, from Gelugor, Penang; Zaki, from Kubang Semang, Bukit Mertajam; and Adib Haikal, from Kulim, Kedah, are the climbers involved. On Threads, user myanaimah pleaded for prayers for Adib Haikal and his two companions. Wisma Putra convened a special briefing session with the next-of-kin and families to provide the latest updates on the case and informed them about the potential need for DNA testing, should unidentified remains be discovered in the disaster zone.
