Hrgovic, who had previously defeated Itauma, praised his opponent's talent but emphasized the need for more experience. "He is the best I have been in the ring with, but he needs more experience," Hrgovic stated. Itauma's promoter, Frank Warren, acknowledged the young fighter's incredible talent but suggested he must learn from this setback.

The victory saw Hrgovic become Croatia's first-ever heavyweight title holder, and he is now expected to defend his title against Frank Sanchez.
