Why Nor Azilahazah keeps answering the call to help

Nor Azilahazah Ramlee sees patriotism as a matter of service, community trust, and a willingness to assist those in need. When a person went missing on Pulau Mawar in 2023, the 33-year-old event coordinator volunteered without hesitation due to her familiarity with the island's terrain. Being the only woman in the search area, she was asked to return, which she considered an honor and a demonstration of the team's confidence in her experience.

Azilahazah has been involved in volunteer work since Form Four, participating in search and rescue operations, pandemic-relief efforts, and programs supporting poorer and island communities in Johor. During the pandemic, she managed vaccine registration for over 100 individuals in Johor, and later helped reach Orang Asli and island communities.

Her community trust is a crucial factor in the success of any mission, making people more willing to listen to her due to her established rapport. Azilahazah's volunteer work earned her the Johor National Youth Icon Award and the Johor Civil Defence Force Medal of Service, but she emphasizes that service is about helping others without regard to background, especially during difficult times.
