Why Nor Azilahazah keeps answering the call to help

Nor Azilahazah Ramlee, a 33-year-old event coordinator, considers patriotism to be expressed through service, community trust, and a willingness to help those in need. In 2023, when a person went missing on Pulau Mawar, she volunteered for the search, despite being the only woman in the area and having completed the route multiple times.

Her familiarity with the surroundings earned her trust and respect from the team. This instinct to help when needed has shaped her volunteer work over the years, from search and rescue operations to pandemic relief efforts and community support programs in Johor. During the pandemic, she managed vaccine registrations for over 100 individuals and helped reach Orang Asli and island communities, where her trust and understanding of the communities made her an invaluable asset.

Azilahazah also played a key role in the Paso Singgit initiative, which provided essential items to low-income fishermen. Her volunteer work has earned her numerous awards and recognitions, but she emphasizes that service is about helping others regardless of background, especially during difficult times.
