US deports far-right influencer who called for immigration crackdown

Milo Yiannopoulos, a far-right political commentator, has been deported from the United States back to the United Kingdom, according to the US Department of Homeland Security (DHS). The 41-year-old British national was arrested at Louis Armstrong New Orleans International Airport by Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) on Thursday, after choosing to remain in the country beyond his legal stay following his entry in May 2019.

DHS officials stated that Yiannopoulos overstepped the bounds of US law by overstaying his visa, leading to his arrest and eventual deportation. The commentator, who has previously advocated for stricter immigration enforcement compared to the Trump administration, including the installation of ICE checkpoints at supermarket entrances, did not attend an immigration hearing and was subsequently issued a final order of removal on July 22.

TMZ.com, the first to report on Yiannopoulos' arrest, noted that the individual, who once served as a staff member for rapper Kanye West, was in New Orleans in anticipation of the musician's scheduled performance. In a June 2025 post on X (formerly Twitter), Yiannopoulos expressed his desire to deport millions of immigrants, stating, "We have got to deport millions and millions and millions of people. Without that, nothing else matters."

Yiannopoulos, a vocal supporter of Donald Trump during his 2016 presidential campaign, is known for his anti-Islamic and anti-immigrant rhetoric. He has not yet commented on his arrest or deportation.
