Threads Of Love, Faith & Togetherness Paint Indore In Raksha Bandhan Colours

Indore, Madhya Pradesh, celebrated Raksha Bandhan on Friday amid a fusion of religious devotion, familial unity, and civic initiatives. The city's landmarks, including temples, the Central Jail, and public transport, played a role in the festivities. The centerpiece of the celebrations was an enormous, intricately crafted Sanatani rakhi, measuring 40x40 inches, created by the Matrushri Palrecha family.

The grand rakhi was initially presented to Lord Ganesha at the renowned Khajrana Ganesh Temple on Friday morning after special prayers and would subsequently be offered at various other temples across the city. This year's rakhi was themed around the 150th anniversary of Vande Mataram and national pride, featuring symbols of Sanatan culture, national consciousness, and India's heritage.

The rakhi also carried messages related to the upcoming Simhastha, Mahakal Lok, cultural unity, and prosperity, including a reference to the restoration of a historic idol from a London museum to Bhojshala in Dhar, as represented by the inclusion of Maa Vagdevi. At the Central Jail Indore, Raksha Bandhan brought emotional moments for inmates, who celebrated the festival by tying rakhis to their incarcerated brothers and sharing sweets.

Women were granted free travel on city buses, a civic initiative by the Indore Municipal Corporation and AICTSL, to facilitate their journey to their brothers' homes.
