The walk Vegi still wants to finish

Former Federal Territory Athletics Association president S Vegiyathuman, now 85, resides in an assisted-living facility where he remains determined to regain his ability to walk. For decades, his life revolved around athletics, from organising community events to competing in various races. However, a spinal cord injury has left him wheelchair-bound, and his wife's absence has left a significant void.

Despite her absence, Vegiyathuman remembers his wife, Anathaletchumy, who continuously urged him to exercise regularly and become stronger. She passed away recently, but her message to her husband remains. Vegiyathuman believes he will walk again and is exercising to achieve that goal. His friends continue to stay close, keeping him updated on the athletics world he helped nurture.

Despite the change in his life, there is no bitterness in Vegiyathuman's recollections. He remains focused on his determination to walk again, guided by the voice of the woman who continuously encouraged him not to give up.
